This policy explains how The Safe Investing Engineer (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information. It applies to information you give us through our website at safeinvestingengineer.com, through lead forms we run on Facebook and Instagram, and when you request one of our free retirement guides.

We are an independent insurance and retirement strategy practice based in Cadillac, Michigan. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not submit a form to us.

Information we collect

When you submit one of our lead forms, we collect the information you provide in that form. Depending on the form, this is:

Your full name
Your email address
Your phone number
Your state of residence
Your answers to the questions in the form — for example how many years until you plan to retire, what you are currently doing with a former employer’s retirement account, which retirement priority matters most to you, and an approximate range for your retirement savings

Some of these fields may be filled in automatically by Facebook or Instagram from your profile. You can edit them before you submit, and nothing is sent to us until you tap submit.

We also collect limited technical information automatically when you visit our pages, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and the pages you view. We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, account numbers, or account login details. Please never send those to us by email or text.

To send you the free guide or material you requested
To contact you about your retirement questions and, where appropriate, to discuss whether a strategy may fit your situation
To prepare for that conversation, so the discussion reflects the answers you gave
To respond to enquiries you send us
To measure how our advertising performs and to improve our materials
To meet our legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations

Calls and texts — your consent

When you tick the consent box on our lead form, you are giving your prior express written consent for The Safe Investing Engineer and a licensed insurance agent working with us to contact you at the phone number you provided — including by automatic telephone dialling system, prerecorded or artificial voice, and SMS text message — about retirement, annuity and insurance options.

Consent is not a condition of purchasing anything. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.

You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP, and ask to be placed on our internal do-not-call list at any time by calling us or emailing us using the details below. We will honour that request.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it to third parties for their own marketing.

We share it only as follows:

Licensed agents and insurance carriers. If you ask us to look at a specific product or move forward with an application, we share what is needed with the licensed agent handling your case and with the insurance carrier concerned.
Service providers. Companies that run things on our behalf — our customer relationship system, email and SMS delivery, scheduling, hosting and analytics. They may use your information only to perform that service for us.
Legal reasons. Where we are required to by law, regulation, subpoena or court order, or to protect our rights, our clients or the public.
Business transfer. If our practice is merged with or acquired by another business, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.

Facebook, Instagram and advertising

Our lead forms are hosted by Meta Platforms, Inc. When you interact with our ad on Facebook or Instagram, Meta’s own privacy policy also applies to that interaction. You can read it at facebook.com/privacy/policy and manage your ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account.

We use advertising and analytics tools, including the Meta pixel and conversions API, to measure how our ads perform and to show our ads to people likely to find them relevant. These tools use cookies and similar technologies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of interest-based advertising at optout.aboutads.info.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide what you asked for and to meet the record-keeping rules that apply to insurance and financial services, which in some cases require records to be held for several years after our last contact with you. When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

You may, at any time:

Ask what personal information we hold about you
Ask us to correct it
Ask us to delete it, subject to records we are required to keep
Withdraw your consent to calls and texts
Unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any email we send

Residents of California, Michigan and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to know what we collect, the right to deletion, the right to correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in exchange for money, there is no “sale” for you to opt out of. Children

Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top of the page. If the change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
